Virginia Park Campus Kindergarten Registration 2010-2011

We are now accepting registration for Kindergarten enrolment for the 2010-2011 school year for students who will be 5 years old, on or before March 1, 2011.  Should we have more than 22 applicants, students will be admitted according to the following established priorities for admission to schools with optimal enrolment:

Virginia Park residents, defined as:

  • Students living in the Virginia Park attendance area
  • Students who have siblings who are currently attending and will continue to attend Virginia Park

Students from out-of-boundary areas:

  • Names will be accepted as pre-enrolled, pending space as of February 1, 2010.
  • Near the end of the pre-enrollment period, a random selection process of applicants will be conducted by the district, if required.

If you know anyone in our community who has a child of Kindergarten age, please ask them to call the school at 780-477-8152.

It is very important that we have all Virginia Park students registered before the district holds its random selection for students outside the Virginia Park area.

What is Random Selection and Optimal Enrolment?

Random Selection Process

The random selection process is implemented when the registration demand from outside the designated attendance area of a school exceeds the available number of learning spaces. This process provides students from outside the designated attendance area of a school with a fair and equal chance of admission.

Optimal Enrolment Limit

The optimal enrolment limit is a pre-determined maximum student enrolment number set jointly by the School and the Edmonton Public Schools Planning Department to ensure that excellent teaching and learning conditions exist for all students in the School.
