Engaged Students

Students Engaged in Meaningful Learning
Our students demonstrate a positive attitude in the classroom, around the school, and outside on the playground. Our school expectation is that students demonstrate respect for themselves, others, and property.  This is a school wide goal that all our students strive towards.

By offering a range of activities outside of the classroom, all Mount Royal students can find something just right for them. There are annual events and activities for both students and their families, such as Christmas and year-end celebrations.

House Groupings
We have a "House" system at Mount Royal school, which allows children to work together with students from other classes. Students from all grades are placed in one of the four houses. Students work together to earn points for their "House". The house system helps to instil pride in the school and motivates students to make appropriate choices at school.  Our house names have been chosen from famous children’s authors; Munsch, Tolkien, Blume, and Rowling.

Through our house program students learn about citizenship traits.  Our character education program is focused on six pillars that support good citizenship. The Pillars are:

Respect Responsibility Citizenship
Caring Trustworthiness Fairness

At Mount Royal we believe that good citizenship is demonstrated through the support of charities in our community.  Each house supports a charity by organizing fundraising activities or the collection of items.  During the 2007-2008 school year the following charity isbeing supported by the houses:  Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation.

In addition we support the Terry Fox run for cancer research which will be held on September 28, 2007.
